Purchasing via cell phones starts to take off

by SteveBayle on December 29, 2009

According to this post on The Daily Tech, online holiday shopping increased this year.

But what’s of most interest to mobile app developers is the following quote:

Online purchases via cell phones have matured this year and eBay reports that it sold 1.5 million items to cell phone users in the recent weeks. Many of the items weren’t small ticket sales; the largest was a $75,000 purchase of a 1966 Corvette and a boat purchased for $19,000.

Also of note were the big growth categories according to Comscore:

… toys, consumer electronics, and department stores with overall sales growth online of 30%
